Wm. Bradford Herbert - Managing Director

Its founder, Brad Herbert, manages BHA. Mr. Herbert has over 30 years of experience in international development with a focus in the social sectors including health and education. Mr. Herbert was with the World Bank for 27 years where he spent the majority of his tenure based in developing countries. In 2002, he left the World Bank to join and help establish the Global Fund to Fight HIV/AIDs, TB and Malaria. At the Global Fund Brad was the Chief of Operations, with the equivalent rank of Assistant Secretary General at the World Health Organization (WHO) and was responsible for their multi-billion grant program in over 130 countries. As a result of years of development experience and leadership roles, Brad brings a practical, results-oriented approach to program policy, development, and accelerated implementation of health and education projects..

In 2017 Brad was asked by the new Deputy Secretary General, UN, to take over as Co-Chair of the Water Supply and Sanitation Collaborative Council (WSSCC) Geneva, Switzerland. (The Deputy Secretary General had to step-down as Chair when she was appointed DSG, United Nations.) In this capacity Brad and the other Co-Chair, Ms Ebele Okeke, lead and managed a major Change Management process of WSSCC.  In addition, Brad is also a founding Trustee of the Global Campaign for Mental Health, based in London.  He is currently engaged with citiesRaise, a global mental health organization focusing on mental health issues affecting youth in major cities around the world.  Brad also served as Chair and member of the board of Mothers 2 Mothers, based in Cape Town, South Africa. 

Brad holds a BA in business administration from the University of Maryland and an MBA from George Washington University.

In 2014 Brad, with two colleagues, founded the MATCCH Initiative (Mobilize Action Towards Climate Change and Health), a not for profit organization focusing on the intersection between the impact of climate change on human health.
